Coaching Experience

I have been coaching and training athletes for ten years now. I began my coaching career with the International Sports Training Institute (ISTI), where I coached kids on a one-on-one basis and in a group setting to help them improve their basketball skills. While working at ISTI, I was selected as the Head Basketball Coach for the Houston Maccabi 13-14U team to prepare the kids to compete in a summer tournament. I also instructed a basketball class to two separate age groups at the Jewish Community Center (JCC). The program lasted for fifteen weeks. The first group of students were ages Pre-K to 3rd grade and the second group were ages 4th to 6th grade. For the first 5 weeks I instructed kids on how to dribble, shoot, pass and perform layups. From week 5-10, I coached the kids on how to play defense, pivoting, rebounding and the basic rules of the game. To conclude the program, in the last 5 weeks I taught the kids more advanced dribble and ball handling moves, how to perfect their shooting forms, and dribble drive moves and pick and roll offense. I have a certification in personal training and in sports performance training from NASM.
Athletic Highlights

I was part of the basketball varsity team in high school at Robert M. Beren Academy and won several awards including Most Valuable Player (MVP), hardest worker award and even won All-Tournament twice! I played on several basketball teams at the collegiate level, but my proudest accomplishment was playing on a semi-professional team in Israel.
Session plan

In a typical session, I help clients focus on improving their athletic skills and abilities. In addition, I give them a dose of motivation. I help them achieve their goals by focusing on the basic fundamentals such as form and structure. I also find basic drills and repetition as vital elements for my clients to improve. Most of the students that I train are guards, and therefore I focus on dribbling techniques and ball-handling drills. However, as a player who has prior experience playing in every position in basketball, I can help my clients in a variety of skills so they can become a better player overall. Each session normally lasts an hour, unless my student requests for extra time to further shape their skills. I normally begin each session with a warm-up which includes dribbling and ball-handling drills. After the warm-up, I have them practice more advanced dribbling methods including crossover, spin-move, double crossover, hesitation move and more. Then after that I will have them work on their shooting form and work on dribble attack moves. I like to give my clients the most out of every lesson and try to incorporate new exercises in every session in order for them to feel challenged.
